The global dimension of the web is the last frontier of the relationship between society and the single. Internet gives us the chance to place our faces around, share and find every kind of information. The most ineteresting phenomenon  in our research is Social Networking, expression of modern virtual culture, and perfect example in term of “how the mass coul be importnat for a single person”.

Our speach starts from the analysis of the connection between two words: social and networking. It’s not dfficult understand that their meanings reminds us to a global sharing of personal informations. It’s easier to understand if we consider the word ” FACEBOOK ” that remember an online book of all society’s faces.

Everyone is important for each user because of the central role of connection in the netwok system. The mass become a medium, and every user is a part of this dimension, he is subject and object of the whole comunity’s comunication.

Social networks, like facebook, twitter or myspace are still changing the rule of social interaction, the way of comunication and the way to find and share informations. All the user think S.N. are the best way of personal expression, but they’re not consciouss that they’re only a part of an egoistic system that consider them just like a small, but essential, piece of a network puzzle.

In modern society, big groups cover an important position in terms of influence and fame. They have the power to change habits and present new ways of doing and consider thing. How could it happen? Big groups act directly on each person, they influence the society from the down to the top, starting from the single one and his needs, giving a opportunity to fully satisfy them.

So just think about iPod by Apple. Everyone got an iPod, but it not necessarly means that it is only market-oriented product. Apple designed a product for the single one, able to change habits, satisfy needs, just like wheel or Internet.

The core element of iPod success, is the total customization. The Apple’s big group gives to ones an empty perfect bin, to fill and customize according to likes and prefernces in terms of music and colors. The increase of personal needs lead Apple to improve iPod and design new products, with more features and opportunities of use, like iPhone or iPad. The ” i ” prefix underlines the strategic role covered by the single in the use and interaction with the products.  We can consider Apple the most important techcnologic company that offers an high-tech product built around the custom requirements of each one.

13 JULY 1985

During the centuries, small and big groups’ exploits influenced the history of the humanity, gaining a universal glory. These little bunch of peole have been able to change the world, with persistence, ambition and motivation. They had clear, and very difficult, objectives to reach, but they could not imagine that the result would be bigger than they could think.

There are a lot of examples during the history, like Robespierre’s Franch Revolution or Luteran Revolution, all these happenings come from small groups’ enterprises. They were alone but had strong and ambitious ideas, as other revolutionary group, just like BOB GELDOF and MIDGE URE for the LIVE AID.

LIVE AID is a concert that was held on 13 July 1985 to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. At the beginning it was a normal show, but later a lot of acts were added on both sides of the Atlantic, just like Queen, Led Zeppelin, U2 and Bob Dylan.

The event was held simultaneously in Wembley Stadium in London,(attended by 72,000 people) and J.F. K. Stadium in Philadelphia, (attended by about 99,000 people). Geldof and his team organized one of the largest-scale evnts of all time: an estimated 400 million viewers, across 60 countries, watched the live broadcast.

As a charity fundraiser, the concert far exceeded its goals: they hoped to raise £ 1 million, and they actually raised £ 150 milion. During the concert Geldof said that 95% of  World’s TV were tuned on the event.

ALL the World was listening to LIVE AID and giving money for famine relief in Africa. LIVE AID became a new benchmark for humanity’s history all over the world. Geldof’s small group made real a global revolution and gave life to a lot of similar charity initiatives just like HopeForHaiti in 2009 .

The specific way how a small group reach fame and glory is a very complex process, especially when it is famous for a biggest one. The core element of this relationship is the expression and the representation of typical values and features of the big group. A clear expression of SMALL/BIG group relation of fame is SPORT. This connection is not so much stronger as it seems because big groups follow their supported teams even if they don’t share with them any kind of values, especially in common sports.

The situation starts changing when we are talking about international tournaments, where each small team plays for his country during the competition. As we told before we discover that the connections between this two groups is stronger when, going beyond sports, the small group becomes a pure expression of typical values and culture of the big one.

It’s the case of New Zeland’s rugby team: THE “ALL BLACKS”.

They are a mix of the occidental way to play sports and the Maori’s strenght. They are not only a rugby team, they “are” the N.Z.’s comunity in its completeness, a perfect melting pot of  British and Native’s culture, the essence of a country. Here fame, glory and respect, mixed together, become a values-sharing between the ALL BLACKS and all the New Zeland’s comunity.

In our reserch we met a lot of cases where people interact with other subjects and their relevance, but we have never analized the relations between two differents GROUPS of people and all the connected beaviours.

It’s very interesting understand how the relationship between groups develops in a COMMUNITY.

We can find a clear example of this situation during live music exibitions. At the beginning there’s the band on the stage and the public on the other side, but when the concert starts they join together into a single beeing. The fame of the band and the passion of the public combined, give everyone the opportunity to live one of the best experiences of interaction.

Music is only a part of the all, the most interesting thing is how the relation between these groups become the real show, guitars, voices, drum and clapping hands everything is part of the show.

The most important feature of this kind of interaction is the singularity of the experience, every show is different from anoter one and diffuse different emotions in each person who takes part of the concert.

Understand how a group of people express sensation and complex feelings to other subjects , and how a small group became important  is an hard starting pourpose. When we’re are going to deeply analize a  group of people we should remember the group’s dynamics and his power.

So let’s start from the beginning.

Emotion, feelings and behaviour become from the childhood’s experiences  and from parental influences. Parents are the first group of the child, the “Family”, they teach the kids how to convey emotions and feelings in actions, even if it’s represent only the fist steps to get to a full knowledge of our capacities, everyone of us is indissolubly tied up to his family.

The subject matter changes. It’s not about fame or glory, it’s about the importance of a group, in this case the crucial relevance of the Parents during the kids life. Parents are the the first benchmark for sons, every kid see the parents as perfect example of behaviours, like a model of perfection to emulate.

This following funny video helps us to understand how children consider the parents and give enormous importance to their behaviours, in every kind of situation.

Now, the small family is the starting point of our new view, explaining clearly the relationship between a little group and the various subjects of world outside of it.

The story we’re going to tell, goes far beyond a simple expression of fame or glory, this story is about a dream that every man hides in the deep of his soul, and even if only few people turned it into reality, all around the world people saw their dreams closer than ever before.

Neil Armastrong, setting foot on the Moon and making the dream of Moon-trip possible, become a legend for everyone and everywhere on the heart. The glory that surronunds him is not connected to him as person, engeneer or astronatut, Armstrong is famous becouse of what he represents for the humanity: A MAN WHO BELIEVED IN A DREAM AND MADE POSSIBLE  DREAMING FOR ALL.

Since the humanity’s birth every man wondered to get on the moon, blamed to walk on his surface and dreamed on what could be hidden over there so far from the the ground. Neil Armstrong did it!

Armsong’s feets became the feets of the progress during the walk of evolution, his steps brught us to a new level of knowledge and opened the man to the infinity of the space. Later in the years many people come back on the moon but Armstrong still remain the symbol of  humanity that autocelebrate itself.

In the previous posts we understood that fame and glory are only consequences of personal passions. Now we are going to see how passion combined with ideals, music, death, respect and cultural tendecies could transform a man into a legend for a big group of people all around the world. There are a lot choises for this case but the most appropriate is certainly JOHN LENNON.

Most people knows him, his story and his role in the history. We are not only talking about his music, we’re talking about John Lennon as pacifist leader, voice and idol of the young generation of mid-60s and 70s, legend and most influential character of the second half of XX century.

John Lennon, was a musican, a singer, a writer, a visual artist and influent activist of the pacifist movement. He rise fame with Beatles, writing with the band innovative songs for the upcoming generation untill 1970, later after he met Yoko Ono started a solo career and a more intensive activity against war.

At the top of his fame nothing could stop him and he was kown all around the world. Lennon and Ono used their honeymoon at the Amsterdam Hilton, in March 1969, as a “Bed-in for Peace” that attracted worldwide media coverage. Then in June 1969 at the second “Bed-in” in Montreal they recorded “Give Peace a Chance” in their hotel room at The Queen Elizabeth. The song was sung by a quarter million demonstrators in Washington, D.C. at the second Vietnam Moratorium Day, on 15 October 1969.

This event proofs how the passion and the dreams of one single man could reflect a cultural expression of a bigger group of people.

Lennon soon become one of the most important voices of the anti-war movement, the US President Richard Nixon believed that Lennon’s proactive anti-war activities and support could cost him re-election, starting a battle of deportation that would be a strategic counter-measure against Lennon. The President of USA was scared of Lennon mediatic power. In 1976, Lennon’s US immigration status was finally resolved favourably.

John Lennon was absolutely consciouss of his role, he influenced the masses, he was fighting a war against the war, without blood or violence, with only music, words, pacific acts and his endless fame.

As all the BIG STARS of the history Lennon reach the immortality of his works and his message with a tragic death. On 8 December 1980 Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times. Ono issued a statement the following day, saying :

” John loved and prayed for the human race.

Please pray the same for him.”

We close this post with Yoko Ono words and “Imagine” video where John Lennon still relives everyday for everyone.

Discover how passion lead a person to be known  is a strange and particular process. Any expression of passion could become a real show for extraneous people and the case we’re going to analyze is a great instance because it happens whitout any kind of advertising, only by a few people passing the word.

This is the story of Clemente, a baker who lives in Canosa Di Puglia (South of Italy). Since he was a young boy he has always worked in a bakery, in the oldest quarter of the town near the ruins of castle. Nowadays he lives and works normally even if he has become a “Star”  for Canosa’s citizens.

But let’s start from the beginning.

The social reality of Canosa is not far from the common situation of a lot of  towns in Soutern Italy, same places, same faces and same amusements. After the 1.00 pm the town sleeps but young people anyway need a place to go and have fun.

Clemente has always worked during the night, like every baker, but, he is very different from the mass. He’s gay, he knows a lot of stories or rigmaroles, and he’s got an amazing personal appeal. A perfect cocktail for a showman.

About 2 years ago, during the summer, people started to visit Clemente, and he was really happy of this. Soon he decided to sell at low price bread with tomatoes and gladdening visitor’s time whit funny sketches.

After 2 years Clemente has gained popularity between the citizens and has become the last stop of all young people’s night. He improved his “services” with new ingredients for his bread rolls, croissants, a wig to use in any occasion, and his poetic way to “create his bread-works”.

This video is an house music remake of some Clemente’s shows in his bakery. It’s a demonstrations of how people love this “superman”.

Clemente has redisigned the way to live the night in Canosa, offering food, drinks and first of all happiness. Everyone knows him, everyone thanks him for the opportunity of giving life to the town and to the old ruins of the castle, everyone loves him for everything he does.

Clemente is not famous all around the world, he has never blamed fame, but for his town he is a star. He only wants to express his passions and give people the opportunity to be happy before going to sleep( maybe also with a bread roll in the stomach).

All the people know him say:

” He’s wonderful! He’s a baker that sells happiness! “

Some videos on youtube demonstrate how Clemente has become a real show.

In the following video Clemente send to everyone his greetings. Obviously with a typical rigmarole in the town’s dialet.

Now, our principal question is ” how to distinguish between personal pleasure of self-establishment and personal desire of beeing succesful.

To explain clearly this situation, you could take a look at some examples.

– An home artist  who paints his pictures.
– A musican who composes his songs.
– A man that goes out for his weekly run.
– A student-cook who creates his recepits.
– A grandmother that feeds her frowers on the balcony.

Is there something in common in this behaviours?

Absolutely YES! First of all the examples suggest us that our question was not totally right because the leadig force that bring people to behave in millions of ways is the same, the PASSION.

We have just to understand, and discover, HOW PASSION EXPRESSES ITSELF IN DIFFERENT WAYS IN PEOPLE.

In the cases mentioned before, we could observe how passion influences personal actions. Nobody have a social axe to grid, but only a personal benefit. Passion lead them to self-establishment and autorealization. Painting, playing music, running, cooking or feeding flowers (like any other activity in similar cases) is enough, initially no one is looking for fame, because fame is only a consequence of  pure passion.

The analysis of PLACE YOUR FACE starts from the deep of the human unconsciousness, the man’s need of motivating forces to improve himself. During the history, the man has always been looking for new situations able to stimulate his growth, to finally discover that his best opportunity of improvement was to face and surpass oneself. Nowadays the reality is a little bit changed. Everyone, like in the past, has got his challenge, but do we really know which are the reasons that bring us to face it ? How could we distinguish between personal inner improvement and desire to have credit for something?
